When the cat returned home on the evening of 12 April, his family knew straight away that something was wrong. But they had no idea just how serious it was. Above all, they did not yet know that this incident hid a much darker story!
Usually, the streets around Margaritenweg, in the Neulindenau district of Leipzig, are very peaceful. But on this April evening in 2026, when the front door opened, the usual calm was replaced by pure horror.
A moment of horror on the doorstep
When the poor cat crossed the threshold, his owners' blood ran cold. He was dragging himself along, clearly in agony. His back legs were mangled badly and his tail had been stripped of most of its fur. It was a heartbreaking sight that left them breathless.
Panicked, the family grabbed the injured animal and rushed to the emergency vet. Once there, the vets fought to save him, but his injuries were simply too severe...
To stop him from suffering any further, the vets had to make the hardest decision of all, and the cat was put to sleep during the night.
Not an accident: the terrible truth
Very quickly, doubts began to grow. This was no road accident or fight with another animal. The nature of the injuries chilled the vets to the bone, showing that it was a deliberate, human act. Someone had set a trap intentionally for the defenceless creature.
But the worst was yet to come. Thinking back over the previous few days, the family realised that this nightmare was not a one-off:
The incident the day before (11 April 2026): Only the day before, another of the family's cats had come home completely disfigured. Having suffered severe facial injuries, he had to undergo emergency surgery. The poor cat only just survived.
The shadow of 2025: The previous year, a similar tragedy had already struck. Another of the family's cats had been found dead.
Three cats from the same family targeted in such a short space of time. This is no longer a coincidence; it is pure, unadulterated cruelty.
Who is lurking in the allotments?
Since then, fear has gripped Neulindenau. A wave of anxiety has washed over the residents: who would dare let their pet outside now?
Suspicions are focused on the area around the house on Margaritenweg. Several allotment gardens border the neighbourhood. It is a real maze of paths, hedgerows and dark corners – a perfect place to hide and act under the cover of darkness.
The German police are investigating actively to see if there is a link between these attacks and how these terrible injuries were caused. To find the culprit, the help of local residents is vital.
