The incident took place at Harry Reid International Airport near Las Vegas, in the USA.
It all started during the travel document check.
A shocking decision
Airport staff noticed that the dog's paperwork was not in order. It didn't match the required forms for service dogs. As a result, the employees denied boarding to both the woman and her dog.
Instead of leaving with her dog, the woman tied him to a baggage scale and headed for her flight alone. Airport employees immediately contacted the airport police.
The police were able to apprehend the woman before she boarded the plane. She reportedly became aggressive and resisted arrest.
A new beginning for Jet Blue
The poor two-year-old dog was taken in by local animal control and later by rescuers from the Retriever Rescue of Las Vegas. He was renamed Jet Blue, a nod to the airline that looked after him.
The rescue centre was flooded with adoption enquiries for Jet Blue, and the team began carefully reviewing them to find him the perfect home. But in a wonderful twist, the story has an even happier ending.
Luckily for this poor dog, his fate took a positive turn. He was officially adopted by one of the police officers who had responded to the call. A happy ending, just the way we like them!
