Cricket isn't the adventurous type. Adored by his five furry siblings, this little cat much preferred snoozing in the sun to embarking on faraway expeditions. Yet, on that particular day, he disappeared without a trace.
Erin spent weeks searching the local area with her dogs, Lulu and Hamm, but there was no sign of him. "I checked the cameras every night," she told The Dodo. But there was nothing.
A meow in the night
One evening, as she was taking the bins out, Erin heard an unusual sound coming from her doorstep. A loud, almost demanding, meow rang out. She instantly recognised that unique voice. Rushing to the front door, she found Cricket sitting on the steps, as if he'd never been away. "He was meowing as if to say: 'Mum! I'm here! Feed me!'" Erin laughed.
An emotional reunion
The security camera captured the moment of pure emotion. Although he had lost a lot of weight, Cricket was in good health. Erin immediately scooped him up for a cuddle before giving him his favourite meal.
Since his triumphant return, Cricket has regained all his weight and has never left the property again. While he still loves watching the world go by from the window, he has clearly learned that there's no place like home when it comes to cuddles.
