Jess had to wait ten long years to be reunited with her cat, Ned, who is now 12 years old.
In late January 2024, she received a phone call from an animal rescue centre with some incredible news: they had her cat.
A born explorer
Adopted in 2014, Ned quickly showed his adventurous side. He loved to go out and roam around the neighbourhood. But one day, the tomcat simply didn't come home.
For years, Jess never gave up hope that Ned would one day reappear. Luckily, she had taken the precaution of having him microchipped, a decision that would prove to be crucial.
The crucial microchip
The woman who had been looking after Ned for the past three years was moving house and became concerned for his welfare. She contacted a local animal charity, who then scanned Ned's microchip. And that's how the rescue centre was able to track down Jess.
