With the area being highly dangerous due to traffic, Holly first secured the opening near the highway to stop the kitten from running out onto the road. In pitch blackness, Holly and her husband then made their way to the other end of the pipe.
To pinpoint exactly where the kitten was, the couple used a clever trick! They played cat meowing sounds from their phone, and the tiny ginger kitten meowed back... This allowed them to locate him more clearly, finding him trapped under a pile of heavy rocks.
Unharmed and safe
Eventually, Holly's husband spotted the tip of a tiny tail. Stone by stone, he carefully cleared the rocks away. Despite his terrifying ordeal, the little kitten was completely unharmed. As soon as he was in his rescuers' arms, he started to purr. He knew he was finally safe!
Holly then gave him a flea bath and a good meal. Over the next few days, she went back to check the drainage pipe to make sure no other kittens were trapped inside.
The adorable ginger kitten has been named Rocky. He is currently resting in a foster home, where he gets plenty of comfort during his naps from his favourite cuddly toy tiger. We are so relieved for Rocky and applaud the heroic work of his rescuers!
