On the 20th of December 2024, the organisation's rescuers carried out a memorable rescue in a local park.
The situation was reported by one of the charity's volunteers.
An adorable cat
A cat was found napping in McCarren Park. She was doing her best to stay warm, but she looked frozen to the bone. She was curled up in a tight ball amongst the dead leaves, trying to keep warm.
No one knows how long the cat had been alone in the park. But one thing was certain: according to several witnesses, she had been wandering there for several days. With the winter cold setting in, it was crucial to get her somewhere warm and safe.
A race against time
The rescuers rushed the cat, whom they named Karen (after McCarren Park), to safety. The brave little cat was examined by a vet as soon as possible. It was then that the rescuers discovered she was 11 years old.
The rescuers knew that for this senior cat to live out her golden years happily, she needed to find a foster home. Fortunately, brave Karen was taken in by an emergency foster family, where she could finally relax after those terrible days alone in the cold. We wish Karen all the best for the future.
