On 23rd January, they took in a poor dog named Queeni.
The dog had been abandoned in a garden along with a handwritten note from her former owner.
A handwritten note
In the note, her former owner explained that he could sadly no longer care for her. He made sure to mention that Queeni is a very affectionate dog who loves to play with her plastic bone and watch TV with her human.
He noted that Queeni has never been socialised with children or other dogs, but insisted that she is a very sweet dog. Queeni will soon be tested for heartworm and will meet other dogs once she feels safe and comfortable.
A wave of support
The shelter's rescuers decided to share the sad story of Queeni's abandonment. They posted photos of the dog on social media, asking their community to send their support.
The dog's story has, of course, touched the hearts of many online: " This note is so heartbreaking. Oh my goodness! You can tell this dog is very loved." Another commented: " Queeni, better days are coming for you. You can feel the love in that letter ".
For now, the shelter has said that what would help them most is finding potential foster families, or people who could visit Queeni and spend time with her. We hope they find the best possible outcome for Queeni very soon.
