Widely referred to as the 'GOAT', Lionel Messi became world champion last night in Qatar, winning Argentina’s third World Cup.

What kind of breed is Messi’s dog?

Messi’s dog is a Dogue de Bordeaux, also known as the French Mastiff (how ironic!). The dog was gifted to him by his wife, Antonela Roccuzzo.

Learn more about the French Mastiff

The dog is an integral part of Messi’s family. In fact, he appears in many of his social media posts!

What’s the name of Messi’s dog?

Messi’s dog is named Hulk, in honour of the famous Marvel character - no doubt because of his enormous size!

What is the size of Messi’s dog?

French Mastiffs can reach up to 69 cm (27 inches) in size, and 68 kgs (150 pounds) in weight! They are truly extra-large dogs!

As such, they’re not best suited for small living spaces. Yet, they’re not the most energetic or active dogs. If you’re looking for a dog that doesn’t need too much exercise, and will prefer to chill on the sofa with you than anything else - this breed is perfect!

What does Messi’s dog eat?

A dog of Hulk’s size needs between 750 and 900 grams of dog food a day. You should pick a good quality dog food, even if it’s a little more expensive. Indeed, these dogs have huge growth spurts and because of their sheer size when they reach adulthood, they need proper nutrition.

How old is Messi’s dog?

According to his Instagram posts, Messi’s dog is currently 7 years old. This is a good age for a French Mastiff, whose life expectancies are usually between 5 and 8 years old.

How much does Messi’s dog cost?

In the UK, a French Mastiff can cost anywhere from £1,000 to £2,200. Cost varies depending on the breeder, and whether the puppy’s parents are champions.
