She was having a completely normal day when a woman walked into the cat shelter with her dog.
Erielle's first instinct was to politely inform the woman that dogs weren't allowed inside, but she quickly realised something was wrong.
A plea for help
The woman, who didn't speak English, had just come from a car park and had entered the first shop she saw to ask for help. She showed the rescuer a translated message on her phone, explaining that she had found a carrier full of abandoned kittens in the car park. Erielle then followed the woman through the shopping centre where Mini Cat Town is located, and out to the car park.
When Erielle opened the cat carrier, she was shocked by what she saw. Six pairs of eyes belonging to six tiny black kittens turned to look at her. The kittens were clearly frightened. They were huddled together at the very back of the carrier.
Tiny kittens
The kittens were only about six weeks old. However, someone had been feeding and caring for them before they were abandoned. The Mini Cat Town shelter usually focuses on adoptions rather than taking in abandoned cats. But Erielle explained the situation to her bosses, who agreed to add the kittens to their foster programme.
Erielle gave the kittens DJ-inspired names: Toki, Kaskade, Zedd, Kaytra, Softie and Partyboy. She has been looking after them for two weeks now, and they are doing well. They are all healthy and growing quickly. They will be available for adoption in about four weeks. We wish them all the best for the future!
