In England, Leslie Greenhough, a 71-year-old pensioner, shares his life with an unusual companion. His tortoiseshell cat, Millie, was reportedly born in 1995. This makes her an incredible 31 years old, which is the equivalent of nearly 146 in human years.
While the average life expectancy for a cat is around 15 years, Millie seems to have cruised through the decades in bafflingly good shape and serenity.
Gourmet food in her bowl
When asked about the secret to such a long life, her owner explained that he had created a tailor-made diet. Every day, Millie enjoys a menu worthy of a fine restaurant. Her meals consist mainly of prawns, salmon, chicken, and tuna.
But her most surprising habit is how she stays hydrated. For the past ten years, this feline has only drunk mineral water from a famous spring. Combined with a peaceful lifestyle of late mornings and long naps, she is living like absolute royalty.
A wonderful story of companionship
Although Leslie only has one photo from 1995 to prove her age – which currently prevents her from being officially recognised by the Guinness World Records – their bond remains unique.
It is proof that constant care, combined with plenty of affection, goes a long way in ensuring the happiness and well-being of our beloved pets.
