In a cold, snow-swept alleyway, a cat was found by passers-by. Named December, the cat was discovered living in cardboard boxes, which he was using as a makeshift shelter from the freezing temperatures.
The woman who found him quickly contacted Little Wanderers NYC, a volunteer rescue group in New York that specialises in helping stray cats.
Saved from the cold
The poor cat was suffering from a severe respiratory infection, likely caused by his prolonged exposure to the cold and damp. After being taken to the vet, he spent nearly two weeks recovering and regaining his strength, safely out of harm's way.
A new friend and a new life
December was then placed in a foster home, where he met Louis, another resident cat. Louis's presence seemed to work wonders. In just a few days, the stray cat's behaviour completely changed, and December began to interact, play, and even seek out human affection.
Today, the cat is enjoying a warm home, a world away from the cold streets.
