At first glance, it looked harmless, almost like a piece of carelessly discarded rubbish. But lying in the snow in a park in Baden-Baden, Germany, was a deadly trap.
A walk on 8th January, above the tunnel exit heading into the city, was meant to be a relaxing outing. But for one dog owner, it turned into a living nightmare. She spotted a strange shape in the snow. Before she could react, her four-legged friend had already snatched it up, putting his life in grave danger!
Death lurks in the park!
Fortunately, the woman managed to get her dog, Normen, to spit the object out. This quick action saved his life! It turned out that an unknown individual had scattered poisoned bait in the park that day. Normen had a very narrow escape from this poisoning attempt.
The photo the woman later shared on Facebook as a warning is chilling. In the middle of the meatball, a turquoise-coloured substance is visible. This is the unmistakable sign of rat poison, a highly potent toxin.
For Normen, it was all over in a matter of seconds. “My dog had it in his mouth,” his owner recounted, still in shock, in the Facebook group “You’re a true resident of Baden-Baden if…”. In situations like these, it is often a matter of life or death. Normen had a guardian angel on his side; he spat out the poisoned meatball immediately.
As a precaution, they still made an anxious trip to the vet. At the same time, the police were alerted and are now actively searching for the malicious individual responsible.
“I’d lose my temper”
Although Normen survived, the incident has sparked outrage online. Comments under the post express fury and disbelief at the perpetrator's cruelty.
“Who could do something like that??? What a pathetic person you must be!” wrote one user.
Another was even more direct, likely voicing what many were thinking: “If I ever caught someone doing that, I’d lose my temper!”
