A most unexpected discovery.

While driving on a motorway in Wisconsin, USA, on 20th April 2023, a driver suddenly heard a dull thud, indicating he had just hit something.

Getting out of his car to check the extent of the damage, he spotted a furry animal behind the grille that looked like a cat.

However, as he got closer and took a better look, he realised the cat was very... large.

”Hello, I have a bobcat in my car bumper”

The large cat, which was clearly stuck in the bodywork but otherwise unharmed, was in fact a bobcat!

Unsure what to do in this tricky situation, the driver contacted the authorities. The officer who answered the phone simply heard the words: ”Hello, I have a bobcat in my car bumper.”

It was certainly a surprising call... It piqued the curiosity of three police officers, who went to the scene to assess the delicate situation.

A delicate rescue operation

Once they arrived, the officers knew they were out of their depth. Although they were used to all sorts of situations, this one was clearly beyond their expertise and required a wildlife specialist. They contacted the local wildlife conservation warden, Bryan Lockman, to ensure the rescue operation could be carried out in the best possible way for the animal.

The mission was filmed, showing the incredible extraction of the animal. Using a catch pole, it was pulled out of the car's grille and placed in the wildlife specialist's boot! In just a few seconds, you can see the agility of this magnificent feline, who certainly seemed to be in good shape!

Bryan Lockman then returned the bobcat to its natural habitat. Hopefully, it will soon forget this misadventure and get back to its life, far away from cars.
