They only wanted to help a stray cat, but their kind act had an unbelievable impact

By Anaïs Drux

A young black and white cat was abandoned by her previous owners when they moved house. She was left to wander the streets of a residential neighbourhood, looking lost and lonely. The little cat soon fell on hard times and began to show clear signs of distress, which prompted concerned neighbours to step in and help.

Josie is a little cat, not even a year old, who has already been betrayed by humans. She was living happily with her owners, but when they moved house, they decided to leave her behind.

Left to fend for herself, the little medium-haired black and white cat wandered the neighbourhood, and soon caught the attention of compassionate neighbours.

A cry for help

As she tried her best to survive this lonely and dangerous life, it became clear that Josie was struggling. The little cat was very thin and was finding it hard to cope with no one to care for her.

In early spring 2023, saddened by her plight, some local residents decided to take her in to keep her safe. They then contacted a local animal rescue organisation, Homeward Bound Cat Adoptions, based in Las Vegas in the USA.

The organisation immediately agreed to take her in, but things were about to take an unexpected turn.

An unexpected surprise

When Josie arrived at the rescue centre, the team immediately noticed that despite her very young age, the cat was about to give birth.

This didn't stop them from helping her. They were able to place her with an experienced foster family, where she could safely give birth to her kittens.

Very soon after, the cat went into labour, and five adorable little creatures came into the world.

The kittens have since grown up and are now ready to join their forever homes. As for Josie, she is also looking for a responsible family, one that won't treat her like an object that can just be 'forgotten' and left behind.
