At the beginning of January, she received a call about five dogs who had been abandoned on a derelict property in the US.
The animal control officer quickly arrived at the scene to rescue the dogs.
An unexpected discovery
Just as Priscilla was about to leave with the dogs, a neighbour called out to her. She explained that she had also seen a little mother dog and her tiny puppy on the property. She believed the mum was hiding with her little one and had nowhere else to go. At first, Priscilla couldn't locate the mother and her pup. Then, all of a sudden, to her great surprise, a dog appeared... but it wasn't the mum!
It was her little one who had bravely poked his nose out first! The rescuer was amazed by the puppy's courage. Usually, it's the puppies who hide while the mothers approach the rescuers. But this time, it was the complete opposite!
A very affectionate pair
A few seconds after the puppy appeared, his mum came out too. Priscilla was pleasantly surprised to find that the mother was just as friendly and trusting. The animal control officer estimated the baby was only about five weeks old.
Thankfully, despite everything they had been through, both he and his mum were in good health. The little family is now resting and enjoying all the comforts of a foster home with Fresno Furry Friends, a partner organisation. We wish them all the best in finding their forever family very soon!
