Ilana Broad decided to foster an adorable dog named Cheesecake.

When she arrived at Ilana's house in the US, Cheesecake was very shy. She had been found wandering the streets of Oklahoma and flown to Denver by rescuers from the organisation A Friend of Jack.

A growing suspicion

Nobody knew the dog's history, but the priority was for her to settle in, eat well, rest, and start to find her feet.

However, about two weeks after she arrived, Ilana started to notice some peculiar signs from Cheesecake.

To Ilana, the dog was showing early signs of pregnancy. She took her to the vet, but he told her that no puppies were visible on the scan.

Convinced by the vet that the dog wasn't pregnant, Ilana took her home and continued to keep a close eye on her.

However, the dog's belly began to grow...

An unexpected twist

She returned to the vet, and everyone was shocked to discover that Cheesecake was indeed pregnant. This time, the scan revealed 9 to 10 puppies!

Cheesecake eventually gave birth, and Ilana named the puppies after cheesecake flavours: Blueberry, Cocoa, Fudge, Mocha, Oreo, Pumpkin, Strawberry, Turtle, and Vanilla Bean.

Just after giving birth, Cheesecake fell ill and couldn't nurse her puppies, so Ilana and her husband had to bottle-feed them.

They eventually decided to adopt Cheesecake for good!

Today, all the puppies have found loving homes, and Cheesecake is living her best life with her wonderful owners and her feline sister!
