A wonderful life together
Over those 13 wonderful years, Joeann and Poppy travelled together and had many adventures. Joeann also raised two of Poppy's own puppies.
Poppy was an incredibly intelligent dog. She always sensed when something was wrong and was the greatest comfort to her mum.
Sadly, Poppy fell seriously ill just before her fourteenth birthday.
After more than 13 years of adventures, Poppy's family had to make a heartbreaking decision. They had to help her pass away peacefully. Joeann held her dog close until she took her last breath.
Signs from the beyond
Shortly after Poppy passed away, Joeann began to receive signs suggesting that she was still around.
First, she noticed an unusual object in her pantry. There was a feather in the cupboard... with a strange colour.
Six months later, Joeann discovered another strange sight on her doorstep.
When she opened her front door, she saw a picture of Poppy on the fence, created by snails. Joeann thought she was losing her mind.
The portrait, made from snail trails, remained for five days before the rain washed it away.
A few months later, someone knocked on the family's door with yet another surreal sign.
Her daughter was holding a puppy whose fur was a perfect match for the grey feather found in the cupboard months earlier.
Joeann believed that Poppy had sent her a puppy. The little dog, now named Amber, instantly became a member of the family.
It has been three years since Poppy passed away, and her family misses her more than ever. But they take comfort in knowing that their sweet dog is still with them, both in signs and in their hearts.
