On the 30th of December, his cat gave birth to her litter.
But Abdulrauf had no idea he was about to discover one of them was truly extraordinary.
An extraordinary birth
Among the cat's three kittens, one had two faces. In the video, the young man introduces all three. The first two look perfectly normal, but the third is a different story...
The kitten has the usual four paws, two ears, and a tail, but its single head holds two noses, two mouths, and four eyes. It is, in fact, a two-faced kitten. Abdulrauf contacted a vet, who admitted he had never seen anything like it in his entire career.
A Janus kitten
Two-faced kittens are known as Janus cats. The name refers to a developmental abnormality called diprosopia, where the face widens and is partially duplicated in the womb.
Internet users were fascinated by the kitten, and it sparked a lot of discussion. One user commented: ”It's just a mutation. It will survive. It will probably just need help feeding at first, but it will survive and live a long life.”
Another disagreed: ”Be warned. Most Janus cats die within 24 hours of birth, but some do survive!” Sadly, the vet advised that the two-faced kitten should be euthanised. The mother and the other kittens, however, are all doing well.
