Symbolically, the figures in the nativity scene await the arrival of the baby Jesus.
While the baby Jesus's manger was meant to remain empty until the 25th of December, things didn't quite go as planned...
An unexpected visitor
On the 5th of December, just before Sunday morning mass, an adorable little puppy wandered into the church. He headed straight for the altar, where the nativity scene was displayed. Without a moment's hesitation, the puppy snuggled down between the small figures of Joseph and Mary.
Someone tried to coax the little dog out of his cosy spot, but the priest celebrating the mass asked for him to be left alone. So, the puppy stayed for the entire service!
An adorable guest
After the service, the congregation gathered in the churchyard for coffee and some snacks. The little dog, now rested from his nap, followed them out.
Everyone believes he's a local puppy, as he seems happy and well-fed. The churchgoers who attended the service were very touched to see that he had chosen the baby Jesus's manger as his resting place!
