Poor little Canelo doesn't understand what's happening to him. Whilst he was living happily with his beloved owner, the latter died in his car, in the presence of his faithful companion. Distraught and confused, the little dog nonetheless showed unwavering loyalty to the end, attempting to protect his owner from any dangers that might reach the vehicle.
Taken in by an animal welfare charity after this terrible tragedy, he has joined a shelter that doesn't know how to ease Canelo's sadness.
He was loved by his owner
Truly doted on by his elderly owner, the shock is far too much for Canelo. In his kennel at the shelter, the little dog is paralysed by despair, seemingly unable to imagine a life without his beloved dad.
Moved by the situation, a shelter volunteer is leaving no stone unturned to find a solution for the little dog, so that he might find the warmth of a home that would perhaps allow him to find joy in life again. As she explains in the caption of her video, she would want someone to do the same for her own dogs if the same thing happened to her.
Completely withdrawn at the moment, the little pooch is truly heartbreaking to see.
Online, nearly a million people have had their hearts broken by Canelo's video. Affected by the animal's desperate gaze, many viewers shared their sadness in the comments.
Amongst the messages sent by members of the social network TikTok, some people have expressed interest in adopting Canelo. One can only hope that these aren't empty words and that this little dog will soon be comforted as much as possible. There would be no finer tribute to his owner, who would probably be devastated by his best friend's situation.
