While working opposite a shelter, this woman found a way to dedicate her lunch break to helping animals.

A dog lover who works next to an animal shelter had never set foot inside, until she came across the profile of one very special dog.

Mia, a bicoloured Pitbull, has been living at the shelter for over four years.

Waiting for a new home

Despite her cheerful and affectionate nature, she has yet to find a home. Sadly, dogs of her breed are disproportionately represented in American shelters, making it hard for them to stand out among the many others hoping for a second chance.

While Mia waits for her miracle, one woman has decided to brighten her days.

Each lunchtime, this woman turns down invitations from colleagues in favour of something far more meaningful.

Lunchtime visitor

Every day, she heads to the nearby shelter with her packed lunch to spend time with Mia, offering her companionship, affection, and a little slice of normal life.

After eating, she takes Mia for a walk, a simple pleasure that’s likely the highlight of the dog's day.

A video sharing their story has been viewed over 145,000 times, with countless comments praising the woman’s compassion.

While Mia is showered with love during these precious moments, we can still hope that one day, she’ll find the lasting warmth of a forever home.
