The cat, named Bobby Robert, was discovered on 2 November in Cheetham Hill with extensive burns after escaping the blaze.
Independent Cat Rescue Prestwich, led by Ashlea and Barbara Franks, immediately rushed Bobby to a vet.
Severe burns
His injuries included severe burns to his paws, body, nose, and mouth.
Most of his fur and whiskers were singed off, leaving him in significant pain and unable to walk or eat initially.
Ashlea Franks said Bobby’s thick fur saved him from worse injuries. “He’s been very lucky,” she added. After weeks of treatment, his wounds are healing, with early signs of whisker regrowth and improved mobility.
Community and charity support
The community has rallied behind Bobby, with supporter Lorraine Boswell raising over £2,300 for his care by climbing Pen-y-Ghent. “Seeing his burned face inspired me to act,” said Boswell, who surpassed her initial fundraising goal in just four days.
Bobby’s recovery continues under the care of the rescue team, and efforts are now underway to find him a permanent home once fully healed.
We hope Bobby doesn’t have to wait too long to find a forever home.
