The animal kingdom is full of surprises, with species able to form the most unexpected of friendships.
Was feline intuition the driving force behind this incredible interaction?
A tentative greeting
Lynxes are long-legged, large-pawed wild cats, who live in forests across the United States and Europe.
On this particular occasion, the lynx in question had stumbled upon a nice warm windowsill where it settled down to rest.
Behind the glass, a curious ginger cat looked on, wondering why there was a giant visitor taking a snooze.
She tentatively approached, pawing at the glass to say hello.
Waiting for a reaction
The lynx looked up sleepily, not realising at first that there was someone lurking behind the window.
Viewers watched on in anticipation, expecting a fierce reaction from the lynx -perhaps a swipe at the glass or a startled growl?
But what actually happened left people speechless. The lynx simply looked over, clocked the cat behind the glass, and peered in curiously. With no signs of aggression, it really seemed as if the lynx knew the cat was harmless.
"Hello mini me", joked a viewer, voicing the possible thoughts of the lynx.
"The lynx looks as if he recognises the cat, but not enough to remember where. Kind of like a distant relative", commented another.
