A kitten's life has been transformed, after shelter staff managed to capture his hidden talent on camera. It was this clip that helped him find a home.

A kitten called Firecracker was taken in by SPCA Florida, who helps cats and dogs in need of new homes.

And while every animal leaves their mark, some really know how to make a lasting impression!

Firecracker roaming free

The team first discovered the tabby kitten's talent when they arrived at the cattery one morning.

The cats were all resting in their cages, except one. Firecracker was roaming the room, having been left shut in the night before.

Completely perplexed, the team came to the conclusion that someone must not have closed the door to his cage properly. They put him back and went on with their day.

But, the very next day he was free once more. And again, the day after that.

Curious and concerned for his safety, they set up a camera to film Firecracker overnight.

A hidden talent

Shelter staff couldn't believe their eyes when they watched the footage back.

Firecracker was not only an athletic, playful kitten - he was also an intrepid escape artist.

Using his paws, he had worked out how to open the cage door, setting himself free overnight.

Having seen the clip on Facebook, it was love at first sight for one adopter. She arrived at the SPCA Florida the very next day, ready to take the kitten home with her.

Now Firecracker will be able to enjoy his well earned freedom, safe and loved by a family of his own.
