When Isaac Vaizman came home to found his house in flames, there was only one thing on his mind.
His beloved cat Cheetah, who was stuck inside the building with no means of escape.
A desperate rescue
"My cat, my cat's in the room. Please get her out", he pleaded with the Los Angeles Fire Brigade.
Following a divorce, the devoted pet owner promised his children he would always keep Cheetah with him. And when it mattered most, he was determined to keep his promise.
"I tried to run in and they stopped me", he told NBC Los Angeles. "It's like losing your kid. Same thing. She is my kid".
The tearful reunion
Faced with the loss of all his material possessions, Isaac waited with bated breath as firefighters tried to find 14-year-old Cheetah.
Their heartwarming reunion was caught on camera, and later shared to X.
Isaac is overcome with emotion when Cheetah is finally placed in his arms, struggling to hold back the tears as he tends to the frightened and dehydrated cat.
Thankfully, after some much needed water and a check-up at the vet, Cheetah is set to make a full recovery. It was her human's devotion that saved her, and she can now go on to live out her remaining years surrounded by the love and affection of her family.
