Skeletal dog found tied to a post outside shelter leaves rescuers in tears

By Ludivine Mazzotti•

On 16 October, the team at the Michigan Animal Rescue League in the USA spotted a dog tied to a post across the street, right opposite their shelter.

As rescuers walked over, they discovered an extremely emaciated dog.

Next to him sat a torn bag of kibble. However, his chain was so short that he could not even reach it.

An alarming condition

When the team got closer, his extreme thinness deeply concerned them. In fact, they could count every single one of his ribs. He also had skin lesions across his body and patches of missing fur.

Yet throughout the rescue, the lovely dog kept wagging his tail. He eagerly asked for cuddles from the volunteers, who decided to name him Henry.

Road to recovery

Tests showed that despite his worrying physical state, Henry fortunately had no other major health issues. Carers are now focusing all their efforts on his diet, recovery, and overall well-being. The shelter team has been posting regular updates on his progress, and he is slowly building up his strength. Regular meals and plenty of treats from the rescuers are certainly doing the trick!

When shelter supporters read Henry's story, it touched their hearts deeply. One generous donor even offered to match donations up to $10,000. The team is now waiting for Henry to fully recover before finding him a loving forever home. After everything he has been through, he truly deserves a life filled with endless care and affection.
