A shocking night-time raid
In the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, India, a dog was sleeping peacefully on a table in a residential courtyard. Suddenly, a security camera captured an unexpected visitor. According to India Today, a leopard had managed to climb all the way up to the second floor of the building.
The big cat crept slowly towards the sleeping dog before leaping on him without warning.
A fierce 25-second battle
Startled awake, the dog refused to give up. The two animals fought on the table before losing their balance and tumbling to the ground, locked in a fierce struggle. The entire clash lasted only about twenty seconds, but it must have felt like a lifetime for the poor dog.
Against all odds, the leopard eventually gave up and fled, with the brave dog even chasing it for a few yards before stopping.
Viral footage sparks local fears
Shared widely on social media, the footage quickly grabbed people's attention, The Sentinel reports. Beyond the dramatic nature of the video, the incident has reignited fears among local residents, who are seeing leopards near their homes more and more often.
Many fear that future encounters might not end so well, either for beloved pets or the residents themselves. Locals have now urged the forestry department to step up night patrols and keep a closer eye on the predator's movements.
