The shelter’s longest-serving resident has finally found his forever home.
When Kylo Jace first arrived at the American rescue centre seven years and seven months ago, staff quickly realised that the sweet dog was going to need plenty of time to learn to trust people.
Taking things slowly
Kylo Jace needed space to settle in, and only a handful of volunteers and staff members managed to find their way into his inner circle. His shy nature unfortunately put off potential adopters who met him over the years.
However, everything changed when a kind lady crossed his path. She didn't try to rush him, but was happy to let him set the pace. For seven months, she visited him twice a week to build a strong bond with him.
An emotional farewell
Little by little, Kylo Jace learned to know her and feel safe in her presence. That was when his true personality began to shine through. Then, on 11 July, after months of careful preparation and several home visits to ease his transition, Kylo Jace finally left the shelter to start his new life!
The shelter staff and volunteers were completely overwhelmed with emotion. They couldn't hold back their tears as they said goodbye, and the pictures have brought a tear to our eyes too.
In the photos shared online, you can see a happy dog surrounded by the people who stood by him for years, before he finally set off for his new home. We are absolutely thrilled for Kylo Jace and his new family, and we wish them many wonderful adventures together!
