Stray animals were left in grave danger. With no shelter to keep them safe, they risked being swept away by the raging waters.
A deadly trap
One poor pup found himself caught in the middle of the chaos. The dog was trapped at the bottom of a stormwater drainage canal as the water levels continued to rise. When rescue teams arrived on the scene, they found the dog, whom they named Monty, completely unable to climb up the steep canal walls.
Despite the terrifying situation, the sweet dog stayed incredibly calm. Rescuers eventually managed to haul him out of the canal before the rushing waters grew even stronger.
Two heartwarming rescues
Just a few days later, emergency services were called out for an almost identical mission. This time, it wasn't a large dog in distress, but a very young puppy who was also trapped in a flooded canal. Terrified, the pup tried to run away, which made the rescue operation much trickier.
Thanks to their patience and determination, the teams eventually managed to pull him to safety. Once he was back at the shelter, a real miracle happened. His owners were identified, and they rushed to the shelter to collect him. The puppy, named River, was absolutely thrilled to be reunited with his family.
While River is back home, Monty is sadly still waiting for his perfect forever family. We really hope he finds his loving new home very soon.
