Hiker hears cries from the trailside and finds a desperate 'prisoner'

By Ludivine Mazzotti

Philip Seo is a dog trainer and the director of the Korean K9 Rescue organisation.

On 16th June, while hiking in Paju, South Korea, he heard noises coming from the bushes near the trail.

Intrigued by the sounds, he stepped off the hiking path to investigate.

A sad discovery

Looking down into a ravine, he discovered a tiny puppy that was completely trapped. It was far too small to climb the steep slope. The poor little thing was soaked, dirty, and exhausted from crying for help. Without Philip's help, the pup would never have been able to get out of the ravine on its own.

As soon as it spotted its rescuer, the puppy started jumping with excitement, understanding that its ordeal was finally over. No one knows how the dog ended up in such a remote spot. One thing is for certain: Philip was in the right place at the right time.

A second chance

Philip immediately took the puppy to a veterinary clinic. Tests revealed that it was suffering from malnutrition, dehydration, and several infections. For a week, the little dog received intensive care as vets did everything they could to save it.

The puppy, now named Jjori, gradually recovered. After being discharged from the clinic, Jjori went to the Korean K9 Rescue shelter, where he is continuing his recovery. Jjori is very affectionate and sociable. When he is old enough, he will be put up for adoption, and his rescuers are confident that he will soon find his forever home!
