"Get in, you filthy animal!": Rescuers reveal a little cat's unbelievable ordeal

By Lina Rayan

The cruel words spoken as the little cat was handed over were just the beginning. This case has turned out to be a truly incomprehensible nightmare for the animal rescuers.

A rough grip, a harsh shove into a narrow carrier, and blood-curdling words: "Get in, you filthy animal!" It was a shocking scene that cut straight to the heart of human cruelty.

To those who wanted to get rid of her, this little cat was clearly nothing more than a burden to be disposed of as quickly and unscrupulously as possible. For the poor animal, this abandonment was the degrading final chapter of a terrible ordeal that had gone on in secret for far too long.

Lilli's shocking ordeal and heartbreaking past

When the animal welfare association in Wolfsburg, Germany, took in this traumatised little creature, the volunteers discovered a tragic situation. The cat was extremely thin, her coat was brittle, and a disturbing smell of marijuana was coming from her small body.

But the true extent of the physical and psychological abuse she had suffered only became clear when they tried to approach her. At the slightest touch, however gentle, the animal would let out heart-rending cries, throw herself onto her back and raise her paws in absolute panic – as if expecting to be hit again at any moment.

Every step is torture for the little cat, whose back legs constantly give way. The sad explanation lies in the consequences of her past: an old hip fracture that had clearly never been treated…

Those who might imagine Lilli endured long years of suffering will be shocked to learn the truth: the little cat is actually only two years old.

A look at her file reveals a distressing history. In just a few months, the animal had been passed from person to person like a worthless object, and was finally sold like cheap junk for the paltry sum of 50 euros.

Behind the scenes, another tragedy had apparently unfolded. During her first two years of life, her delicate body was allegedly used as a mere breeding machine. Lilli is thought to have had an incredible four litters already – and rescuers fear she may be pregnant again.

Safety after hell

The brutal marks of this past still affect the cat's behaviour today. Lilli barely eats or drinks, soils herself out of fear, and refuses to leave her tiny hiding place under the sofa.

A moving Facebook video from the animal welfare association documents the case, sparking a wave of horror and dismay online. Although the exact details of the abuse will likely remain a secret forever, the animal rescuers have drawn a clear and bitter conclusion: you don't need to be a vet to see that something terrible happened to Lilli.

Her road to recovery will be long and painful – but for the first time in her two years of life, Lilli is completely safe.
