Ichabod, nicknamed Ichy, had kidney disease.
After several years of bravely fighting the disease, he sadly passed away, leaving his owner devastated by her loss.
Overcoming her grief
Several weeks after losing her best friend, Grace signed up to volunteer at her local shelter. She hoped that meeting other cats would help her overcome her grief. She wasn't looking to adopt, but simply wanted to spend time in the company of the moggies.
Grace continued volunteering at the shelter until she met Mr Walsh, a black and white cat. Grace couldn't explain why, but the moment she laid eyes on Mr Walsh, she felt an instant connection to Ichy. It was as if Ichy had sent Mr Walsh to Grace to help her through her grief.
Needing time
The feeling became even stronger when Mr Walsh gently pressed his little head against Grace's forehead, exactly as Ichy used to do! Grace wondered if it was a sign and if she should adopt the cat. But she didn't feel ready to open her heart to another cat just yet. A few weeks later, Mr Walsh went to his new home, leaving Grace heartbroken and filled with regret for not adopting him.
However, a few months later, Grace saw that Mr Walsh was back at the shelter. All the doubts she'd had before vanished. First thing the next morning, she was at the shelter filling out the adoption papers for Mr Walsh. The cat is now named Bones and is living a wonderful life with Grace. We wish them all the best for the future!
