Lured by the geese
They say curiosity can be a dangerous thing, and this little Shih Tzu would certainly agree. In mid-January 2022, the Plainville Fire Department in New York, USA, received an unusual call.
A little dog, lured by some geese in the middle of the Seneca River, had decided to give his owner the slip.
The dog then found himself stranded on the ice. As photos shared on Facebook show, his lead had become stuck, making it impossible for him to get back to dry land.
Rescuers crawl across the ice
A team was dispatched to the scene to help him. The firefighters had to put on special suits to safely reach the animal.
The rescuers had to crawl across the ice to retrieve the little dog. At first glance, he didn't seem at all stressed by the situation.
The rescue team's post was praised by hundreds of social media users, who wanted to thank the firefighters for taking the time to save the dog.
