A six-foot intruder climbs through upstairs window: panicked owner pulls out a weapon

By Ludivine Mazzotti•

On Sunday 20 September, a resident of Elbeuf in Seine-Maritime, France, had the fright of his life.

And you can completely understand why he was so terrified.

The man was in his kitchen, in his third-floor flat, when he spotted a sudden movement near the window.

A six-foot-long snake< h2>

That was when his heart skipped a beat. A snake, measuring around six and a half feet, was slithering through his open kitchen window. In fact, part of its body was already inside the room when the resident spotted it.

His immediate thoughts turned to his dog, and he feared for his pet's life. As a licensed hunter with a registered firearm at home, the panicked owner reached for his gun and shot the snake.

Calling for help< h2>

He then asked his neighbours for help, and together they managed to put the snake into a bin bag before calling the emergency services. Both the police and firefighters quickly arrived at the scene.

The snake was later handed over to a specialist to receive veterinary care. It remains a mystery how the reptile ended up in the flat. Did it escape from a neighbouring property? An investigation has been launched to find out exactly why the reptile was climbing around on the third floor of a residential building.

As a reminder, if you ever come across a wild animal, it is best to avoid any dangerous actions. Do not attempt to capture or harm the creature yourself. Instead, contact the emergency services or local animal welfare organisations for help.
