In the United States, a video posted on social media has sparked outrage. As reported by Newsweek, animal services officers in Mission Viejo, California, were contacted by an emergency veterinary clinic after a 10-week-old puppy was found.
The little animal had been abandoned just hours earlier in an area known to be “coyote territory”.
A heartless act
Thanks to CCTV footage, the shelter officers discovered that in the middle of the night, a man got out of his car and dumped the puppy in the street.
“There are always options”
The puppy then made her way to the entrance of the veterinary clinic, waiting for someone to notice her.
Thanks to significant media coverage, the puppy's owner was identified and contacted by the police to explain his cruel act of abandonment.
Named Magnolia, the little puppy has already been adopted following a huge number of enquiries from the public.
The management of the veterinary clinic issued a reminder that “there are always options” if an “owner finds themselves unable to care for an animal”.
