Hope's story begins on the streets of Los Angeles, USA. Abandoned because she didn't meet her breeders' "standards", the young dog had to learn how to survive. It was there she met Angel, a Husky who had also been neglected after his family was evicted.
For two months, the two dogs looked out for each other, sharing what little food they could find. When Isabelle Sance, founder of the Stacy Hope Rescue shelter, heard about them, she knew she had to intervene. She learned from neighbours that Hope had been dumped on the street simply because of an eyelid malformation that needed surgery.
An easily treatable "flaw"
Once rescued, Hope was taken to a vet. The diagnosis came back: she was suffering from entropion, a painful condition where the eyelid rolls inwards, but it's very simple to treat. ”They just left her on the street because of that,” lamented Isabelle Sance.
After a successful operation, Hope felt better immediately. Placed in a foster home, she revealed her true personality: an ultra-affectionate "couch potato" who just wants cuddles. Although she had been betrayed by humans, Hope had lost none of her gentle nature or her ability to trust.
Waiting for a forever family
Despite her easy-going nature and love of games (she absolutely loves trying to catch water from the hosepipe!), Hope is still waiting for her forever family. After being abandoned several times, she needs stability and companionship.
”She is so unique and special. I can picture her with a devoted family who won't be away for hours on end,” shares Isabelle. Hope certainly lives up to her name: despite her ordeals, her eyes are still filled with infinite gentleness. She is ready to give all the love she has stored up to those who will finally see beyond her scars.
As for Angel, he has also been taken into care.
