Chaos erupted on Syd's street. Fourteen emergency vehicles were on the scene to extinguish a house fire. While the whole neighbourhood had their eyes glued to the flames, Syd couldn't take his eyes off Walter. The big ginger cat, a well-known local character, seemed completely unfazed by the surrounding chaos.
Worse still, Walter appeared to be fascinated by the flashing lights. He was prowling around an unattended ambulance. Syd knew the cat well; Walter has an obsession with getting inside vehicles. "He ALWAYS jumps into people's cars," Syd explained. Sensing what was about to happen, he called out to the paramedics to warn them.
A successful infiltration
The paramedics, busy saving a life, asked Syd to step in. But by the time he got down to the street, it was too late. Walter was no longer on the pavement. As he approached the emergency vehicle, Syd discovered the cat settled in the back, strolling amongst the medical equipment as if he owned the place.
Syd started to panic, because Walter, whose full name is Walter Mitty, had a history of this. In the past, the animal had managed to sneak into a primary school, a hospital, and even a removal van. He is a true infiltration specialist who stops at nothing.
The 'pspsps' technique to the rescue
Fortunately, Syd knew the little creature's weak spot. Walter is a big softie who can never refuse a good fuss. Using the famous 'pspsps' call, Syd managed to lure the cat out of the ambulance. He then scooped up the 'ginger beast' and took him home safely.
Walter's owner confirmed that his cat was a repeat offender when it comes to exploring. For added security, the feline now wears a GPS tracker. Thanks to Syd's intervention, the paramedics were able to focus on their mission without ending up with a whiskered stowaway. As for Walter, he's probably already lining up his next target.
