It was so cold that day that the ground was covered in ice.
Amen spotted a ginger cat on the ice, but as he got closer, he realised something was terribly wrong.
Frozen paws
The ginger cat was completely unable to move. All four of its paws were frozen to the ground, leaving the poor cat stranded. Amen could see that its paws were red and swollen from the cold. It needed help, and fast.
Thankfully, Amen did the right thing and started calling local animal rescue charities for help. But it wasn't that simple. He spent several hours on the phone before one of them finally answered: the NYC Animal Rescue Group (NYCARG).
A second chance
Rescuers arrived at the scene as quickly as they could. They gently freed her paws from the ice and took the female cat somewhere warm. Once she was safe and warm in her foster home, the cat began to clean her paws. Then, she fell asleep for a long, well-deserved nap.
The cat was examined by a vet, treated for worms, and vaccinated. The check-up revealed she was a young female, between 6 and 8 months old. Her foster family decided to name her Parker, after the park where she was found. After everything she's been through, Parker is now slowly decompressing in her foster home. Her rescuers hope to find her a patient family who can give her the security and comfort she deserves.
