In Fréjus, in the Var region of France, a woman nearly fell into a trap set by scammers who claimed to have found her missing cat.
As reported by France 3 Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, Kiwi's owner was contacted by people who told her they had a cat that looked just like hers. Kiwi had, in fact, gone missing several weeks earlier.
A demand for 300 euros
The scammers then demanded she pay 300 euros. She almost paid the sum, but a few strange details in the photos they sent made her suspicious.
A cruel trick
Of course, it was all a scam. “I found it very cruel,” she lamented.
