The woods were covered in a thick blanket of snow after heavy snowfall during the week.
During their walk, Scott's daughter decided she wanted to take a picture.
Terrifying noises
The family stopped, and that's when they heard a strange noise. Listening carefully to pinpoint the source, Scott and his children heard high-pitched, insistent meows. As they drew closer to the cries, they spotted some abandoned pieces of metal and realised the sound was coming from underneath.
When Scott lifted the piece of metal, he could barely make out the small creature huddled beneath it. It was an abandoned kitten. The poor thing was so tiny it was hard to see, and what's more, it was almost completely covered in snow and ice.
A last-minute rescue
Scott's son scooped the kitten into his arms, taking off his gloves to warm the tiny animal with his hands. The family rushed home as quickly as they could. They placed the kitten on a heating pad to gently warm it up.
Thankfully, the little female kitten's temperature soon returned to normal. The family then took her to the vet for a check-up, where they learned she was about four weeks old. Since then, she has regained her strength, thanks to special kitten formula and all the love and affection from Scott and his family. They decided to name her Elsa.
Just to be sure there were no other kittens in the area, Scott's family returned to the spot later on. They didn't find any others. They have decided to keep little Elsa and give her a loving forever home!
