Ashley recognised the black cat that had been roaming the neighbourhood for weeks, and she couldn't bear to see him all alone again.
She wanted to coax the cat over but wasn't sure how to get his attention.
Speaking his language
So, she decided to try speaking his language. She let out a little meow, and to her surprise, he meowed right back! Before she knew it, the cat had slipped out from under the car and started heading towards her garden.
Every time she meowed, the tomcat answered, until the two strangers finally came face to face. While most stray cats would have run away, this black cat did the opposite. He crossed the entire garden and walked up the steps to the house, stopping right in front of the young woman.
A forever home
Ashley was so stunned that her plan had worked that she'd almost forgotten the front door was open... Without a moment's hesitation, the cat confidently strolled right inside. When she called her young son, Rome, to come down and see what was happening, the cat's reaction surprised her even more.
He jumped onto the little boy's lap and started cuddling with him. It was love at first sight for the cat, later named Nox, and for Rome too!
For Nox, it was as if he had always lived in the house. The next morning, Ashley took him to the vet, who confirmed he wasn't microchipped or reported missing.
So, the family decided to officially adopt him. Rome, who had been asking for a dog for a year, had finally found the four-legged friend he'd always wanted. As far as they're concerned, the cat chose them, and it's the most adorable adoption story!
