S.P.A. Colmar rescue group regularly takes in animals in need.
But despite their experience and passion for the work they do, some cases still leave them speechless.
A surprise inside the tiny white box
When shelter staff arrived at the rescue on the 4th of November, they found a little white box perched on their mailbox.
At first they wondered whether it was post of some kind. Then, they realised there was something else inside.
Carefully opening the box, they saw two little eyes staring back. It was a tiny black and white kitten, who had been cruelly abandoned by his family.
Just in time
Between wild animals, humidity and the cold, the kitten was lucky to still be alive.
He was confused and frightened, but thankfully the rescue team found him just in time. Unharmed by his ordeal, he will now get the veterinary care and attention he needs, before he's ready to move on to a loving family of his own.
Sharing the kitten's story to Facebook, S.P.A. Colmar took the opportunity to remind the public of their opening hours, during which animals can be signed over for rehoming. Even in the most desperate of cases, it's important to take proper steps to surrender an animal safely.
