Noticing a lone figure in the distance, a driver commuting through Miami traffic was shocked when she discovered it was actually the figure of a little dog.
Clearly confused, she was weaving in between cars, putting herself at risk of an accident.
Defenceless and alone
It was clear that Olivia, as she was later named, desperately needed the help of a human. She was trying to get close to the cars, hoping somebody would help her.
But most people just drove on, leaving her in danger. Thankfully, the commuter who had spotted Olivia decided she needed to step in. Pulling over to the side of the road, she managed to coax her into her car. Nervous but relieved, Olivia was taken to Miami Dade Animal Services.
A plea for help
Urgent Dogs and Cats of Miami, a networking site that helps give exposure to dogs and cats in need, has been sharing Olivia's story with an urgent plea for help.
While she may now be safe from traffic, Miami animal services are extremely overcrowded, and it's no place for Olivia to stay long term.
The group recently asked anyone able to offer a foster to come forward. Let's hope Olivia is soon surrounded by the warmth of a family of her own.
