Best grooming tools for long-haired cats?

Hi everyone, I’ve started brushing my cat regularly but I’m not sure if I’m using the right tools. The shedding is insane 😬 I recently came across a complete grooming tools checklist and it seems pretty solid. Just wanted to ask — what brushes or combs do you all swear by for long-haired breeds? Especially those with thick undercoats. Appreciate any tips!

Hi there! When I first got my cat, I really struggled with shedding, but what’s helped most is using an undercoat rake or de-shedding tool first. It gets right into that thick layer and pulls out loads of loose fur (weirdly satisfying too). Then I use a wide-tooth comb for tangles, especially behind the ears and under the legs, followed by a slicker brush to smooth everything out. A quick spray of cat-safe detangling spray helps with knots, and I finish with a soft bristle brush or grooming glove, which my cat loves. I think it must feel like a mini massage! Going gently, keeping sessions short, and ending with a treat has made grooming so much easier. Hope that helps!
