Adopting an older dog

I'm considering adopting an older dog as his owner is moving abroad. He's a lovely pup and full of energy but is 7 years old and according to various websites would be considered senior

It's a bit selfish but I don't like the idea of falling in love with a pet only for them to taken from us in a few years time. Am I being too cautious?

Hi! What breed/crossbreed is the dog in question? While 7 can be considered old for some dogs (especially big breeds), other breeds have very long lifespans! I have a friend who owns a 16 year old Dachshund and she's still going strong! Of course, it also depends on how you feel! Did you fall in love with this pup at first sight? If so, why hold back...🤗
