Do I have to microchip my cat?

A friend of mine has a litter of kittens at home and I'm thinking of adopting one. Do cats need microchipping? I've read different things online, some people say yes, others say it's not required...

You should be microchipping your cat regardless of weather it's mandatory or not to do so. It's the easiest way to be reunited with your cat if it gets lost or stolen.
