Ellie and her three siblings Ben, Darcie and Jack, together with mum Nuca, were found in the Zavideni area; such young pups were at risk of dying from the freezing Transylvanian winter, getting killed on the road or becoming fodder for the wildlife that lives in the mountains. No one was interested in helping them at all; but Elena managed to find a kind lady in the area who agreed to fed them and keep them safe until Elena could undertake the long journey to go and collect them.
