Worm in my cat's vomit

Hi everyone! I'm posting today because I'm really worried. \/p>

About an hour ago, my cat was sick, and there was a worm in it. It was about 5cm (2 inches) long, yellowish-white, and wriggling all over the place. I wanted to take a photo or a video, but my mum nearly fainted at the sight of it, so I had to clean it up straight away. This is about the fourth time she’s been sick in a week and a half, which I think is quite a lot. Plus, a few days ago, there was a little thread in her sick—or at least that's what we thought. It wasn't moving, so we didn't think it was a worm, but now I’m sure it definitely was. We’re going to book an appointment with the vet tomorrow to get some worming treatment; however, I was more in favour of taking her with us so the vet could check her over, but my mum doesn’t think that’s necessary. \/p>

The worm looked a bit like this; I know a photo or video would have been helpful... \/p>

Is there anything we can do while waiting for the vet? Is there also a risk to us? Thanks in advance for your replies. \/p>

    Hello,

You're absolutely right to speak to a vet. ;)

I don't think there's much you can do other than keep a close eye on your cat.

Give the vet a quick ring to see if they need to see him or her. It would be a shame to go there without the cat and have it delay the consultation. I reckon it would be better to bring them in for a quick check-up, especially to make sure there's no fever.

There's no danger to you, provided you clean up well after any sick and, obviously, wash your hands thoroughly. Keep an eye on the litter tray too, as worms might be coming out of both ends.

Otherwise, there's nothing to worry about; a bit of worming treatment and everything should be back to normal within a few days, but they definitely need that wormer.
