Hi everyone, I've just realised that the wormer I have left expired in April 2022. Do you think it's risky to give it to my pet? It's Milbactor tablets and it's just as a preventative measure.

Thanks

Hi, I’ve just given my cat her wormer and I’ve only just realised the prescription date was 2023. I was wondering if there’s a risk it might make her ill?

Hi there, no, there's no risk at all. The only real risk would be it being slightly less effective, but in reality, medication stays effective for several months after the expiry date (according to my vet).

Thanks. She doesn’t go outside, so the risk of her catching worms is lower, even though I’m aware it’s still possible.

    Hi,

I don't think it's "risky" as such, but the protective effect is bound to be affected and will be less effective. You could give your vet a ring to ask them directly, just to be on the safe side.

    Kind regards,

    Vincent
