The lovely boy has hit the news for a very specific reason: his incredibly affectionate nature!
An intruder in the house
The family's security camera captured a scene that could easily have taken a turn for the worse. At the beginning of September, an intruder broke into Nash's family home. The security footage shows a man climbing over the gate before using a ladder to scale up to an open upstairs window.
Once inside, the man took off his shoes and T-shirt. He was filmed eating yoghurt and other snacks from the fridge before settling down for a quick nap on a mattress in the hallway. He reportedly spent around 30 minutes inside the house.
The warmest welcome
During all this time, the intruder wasn't alone. Nash, a four-year-old Golden Retriever weighing around 90lbs (41kg), had obviously noticed him. Rather than barking or trying to scare him off, Nash had a completely different plan.
Several times, the lovely dog walked up to the man with his toy in his mouth, as if inviting his unusual visitor to play or simply wanting to give him a friendly welcome!
The police arrive
Thankfully, the family was able to watch the break-in live via their smart camera. They immediately called the police. When officers arrived, Nash gave them the exact same warm welcome, toy still firmly in his mouth!
The intruder tried to escape through a bathroom window, but officers were waiting for him in the garden and arrested him. The family expressed their hope that the man would get the help he needs.
It's quite clear that Nash won't be winning any awards as a guard dog, but when it comes to hospitality, he is definitely top dog!
